Can you describe your activity?

For years, I have been doing traditional weaving, making rugs, scarves, cushions… I am passionate about my work.
I started working at home with my neighbors. Then, I wanted to share my passion with young people so that the handicraft know-how lasts. I then taught the art of weaving at the technical center of creativity, innovation and professional training for rugs and weaving in Kairouan.
In addition to teaching I opened my own workshop in Kairouan medina (old city) with the help of my husband and a friend. We manufacture rugs, tinted scarves from a mixture of materials…all this with traditional techniques.

Why did you come to Taysir?

With the economic climate and the tourism downturn in the country, it is difficult to develop and to sustain one’s own activity. But I do not lose hope. I went to Taysir with one important objective: participate in the international fair of handicraft in Kram (another name for Tunis), . present my products and to demonstrate our Tunisian know how. Thanks to Taysir microcredit loan, I was able to pay the rent of the fair fee and meet one of the largest orders I have ever had: a French customer ordered more than 50 scarves and 30 traditional baskets!

What have you accomplished today?

Today, thanks to the microcredit loan but also thanks to the training, mentoring and coaching sessions offeredby Taysir, I expanded and enhanced my activity. I have evaluated the elements which did not work out in my management and I corrected them. I have also learned to manage my expenses. That helped me a lot today.
